Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the query and supplies its results. Lauderdale County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so the team can respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure how the site is used, including which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics services combine that activity into broader reports. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
- Maintaining site operation and page speed
- Finding and repairing technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lauderdale County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies how to request records from Lauderdale County law enforcement and courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Information placed in a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy. Each partner sets its own rules for retaining and sharing data, beyond this site's control. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court resources, government agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search services. Once you follow an outbound link, the destination's policy controls its collection and use of data. Check that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may also measure activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers chosen to process a query
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, so the site cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such data is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary by residence and by the law that applies. The Tennessee Public Records Act, TCA Title 10, chapter 7, governs access to existing government records, not data held by this private site. TCA §38-6-120 separately governs TBI criminal-history checks. Subject to applicable privacy law, you may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask what personal data is held about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of processing when the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. An updated version will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically for changes in data practices.
Effective date: August 8, 2026
